LANGO Together Through COVID-19 (UK)

Lango Together Through COVID-19 (LTTC) is bringing us together by making full use of the skills, volunteers, and resources of our community. The program is a coordinated response of support for the most vulnerable people in our community, including the elderly, sick, housebound, and those affected in other ways by the COVID crisis.

Over the various waves of the pandemic, we have been:

  • Delivering food parcels and other essentials to the affected.

  • Befriending vulnerable and isolated people (including those shielding) and running errands for them.

  • Encouraging and guiding members to keep active with physical exercise, despite restrictions and lockdowns.

  • Inviting professionals to lead virtual workshops on resilience and well-being, as well as coping with anxiety, stress, and bereavement.

  • Leading storytelling sessions (“Wi-Otem”, traditional campfire narratives common in Lango, Uganda) and social events to ease loneliness. [Wi-Otem with Adwong Moi depicted.]

  • Directing members to other support services available locally.
