Geoffrey was elected to serve as Chairman Board of Trustees for Lango Association (UK) charity in November 2018. In Geoffrey, the charity business is in steady hand, with his vast experience in charity leadership which also included 5 years of service as Secretary Board of Trustees LAUK. Geoffrey is a graduate of management, political science, Master of Business Administration (MBA) among others. He also has vast experience which spans across management, Housing, Research and Culture having worked in 3 continents (Europe, Asia, and Africa). Geoffrey is a philanthropist, a social entrepreneur, and a recent ICON Award recipient. He is passionate about improving people’s livelihood and social change.

Vice Chairman

James Ameny

James Ameny
 

James Ameny is the vice chairman,  Board of Trustees (LAUK) re-elected in November 2018. James has worked with various charities both in Uganda and UK acquiring a vast knowledge in managing charity organisation activities.

James holds BSc. Public Health and MSc Public Health with strong background in HIV/AIDS prevention, with a particular interest in Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP). James is currently working with LAUK leading on the Dental Health Project and community initiatives providing additional support and leadership to the project sub-committee. As vice-chairman,  James provides and supplements the relevant leadership for the day to day operation of LAUK while deputising the chairman.

Secretary (Community Engagement/Advisor)

Charles Ogwang Moi

Charles Ogwang Moi

 

Charles Ogwang Moi is professional and experienced community member, who has been involved with the charity since inception. He served the organisation in various capacities including as General Secretary is currently working as Secretary community engagement or Liaison officer. Adwong Moi (a respected elder) holds BA in Political Economy, BSC in Public Sector Managements and is currently pursuing a postgraduate study in Mental Health.

His areas of interests are change management, intergenerational equity, charity work and mental health awareness. He as worked as vice and Chairman for Lango Development Network, a charitable organisation that operates in the Lango sub region of Uganda, assisting orphans with payment of school fees. The charity’s first beneficiaries are already in paid employment.

Treasurer

Reagan Odongo

 

 

 

Alfred (Reagan) Odongo is a chartered accountant who oversees charity business as Treasurer.

He is popular figure among the members and always referred to by his middle name (Reagan). Reagan is one of the fewest Trustees who is always elected to his role as Treasurer unopposed on more than one occasions.

Reagan also diligently works with the Projects and Fundraising Team, ensuring financing and accountability is in order. He is the mundane compliance officer for the organisation.

Assistant Treasurer

Florence A. Odwee Okello

Florence A. Odwee Okello
 

Florence Okello Odwee is the Deputy Treasurer for the organisation.

She brings in a wealth of information from experience through roles in finance settings including private and local authorities. She deputises she assumes overall financial responsibility when the Treasurer is away including compliance roles.

Florence is currently dedicated to serving the project team and community projects. She is a very committed community member who is passionate about Lango.

Projects Lead

Mary Otuko

 
Mary Otuko
 

Mary Otuko is the Project Lead for the organisation. Mary is very skilled in programme management and compliance with both donors and charity experience.

She is using her experience to support different aspects of the community including youth, women, children through projects that improve potentials of beneficiaries. She is also a strong advocate and campaigner for positive change in the community.

Mary strongly empowers community to stop domestic violence, child abuse, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). Mary is also a strong advocate for Men’s Health, Mental Health Awareness, among others. She is a regular speaker on common issues affecting the community.

Events Coordinator

Edward Onapa

Edward Onapa
 

Edward Onapa is the Community Events Coordinator for the organisation. Edward is a professional and exceptionally experienced member, who is so passionate about the community. Edward has served in this role for many years. He coordinates a calendar of annual community engagement events aimed at bringing people together to build stronger relationships both within the Lango community and across the communities. These events include key Community Family Fun days, Mothers’ & Fathers’ day celebrations, Beach Trips, Dinner events, among others. The events foster and in parts improve community cohesion, resilience, and confidence to improve the way in which our community works collectively to improve our circumstances and for those around us.

Children's Coordinator

Stella Okello

Stella Okello
 

Stella is a Children and Families Social Work Manager/Trainer. Stella’s experience working with children and families professionally spans over 15 years. “It is always my desire to put my services on the forefront to help countless young people faced with traumatic experiences, this also extends to the struggles that parents are faced with to raise their children in this highly imbalanced cultural settings”.

The disparate cultural environment poses the biggest question of; How community leaders can feasibly support and encourage our people in this journey of parenting in the 21st Century.

Martin Odoki Lanek is Assistant Secretary for the organisation. Martin works closely with Dennis, leading in areas of Research and New Ventures into opportunities to support charity members. Martin has experience around supporting the community to improve livelihood.  He has been looking at a range of activities to help members improve their economic circumstances and has regularly sign-posted people to opportunities for self-development, investment, and growth.

Youth Coordinator

Rosemary Okello

Rosemary Okello (Rosie) is the youngest Trustee with the responsibility of Coordinating the Youths to participate in related activities within the organisation. Rosie is a qualified occupational therapist, a true role model for most of the youths in our community. She is a very dedicated and hard-working lady.  Rosie works closely with the project lead in planning a managing delivery of activities focussed on the youth.

She also has the task of bringing together most of youths to engage and contribute to the social veins of the community, as well as prepare them to be the role models, current and future leaders of the community.

Jacqueline Falade

Jacqueline Acio (Jacquie) is a Youth coordinator for the charity. Jacquie plans, organise and oversee community programmes aimed at young people within the age groups 13 to 17. She is very enterprising and has initiatives to help the young people connect and engage with the community. She is currently working directly with children and young people in their transitional years, helping them to build life skills, connect with their peers in the community and make decisions that are right for them.
